January Empties

January Empties! During the month of January, these were all the products that I was able to finish using. Some were hits that I will continue to buy and some were misses that I won’t be buying again. Read on to find out which products were which!

Pür - Pressed Mineral Makeup

Lately I have stopped wearing liquid foundation to work. While I absolutely love my liquid foundation, I’ve been wearing mineral powder foundation because it’s less messy on my mask and doesn’t rub off as badly either. There is nothing worse than taking off your mask and seeing that your foundation has completely rubbed off on your nose. It’s not a cute look at all!

This is my second compact that I’ve gone through of this mineral powder foundation, and I have to say that I really like it. It’s obviously not as full coverage as a liquid foundation, but it’s enough for work. As long as I keep having to wear a mask to the office and at Ulta, I will keep wearing this foundation. It’s been great and I enjoy wearing it! I will however look for other mineral foundation options because I like trying new products. I might find another mineral foundation to replace this one, but for now this is my main squeeze.

Pixi - Hydrating Milky Mist

I have had this one for a while. I bought a smaller one first to see how I liked it, and since I liked it, I decided to buy a bigger one. I used this regularly when I first got it and then I stopped using it for a few months. I don’t remember why I stopped using it, but I did not stop reaching for it. Once Fall came around with the drier air, I started using it again. This hydrating mist is perfect to spray on your face anytime of day. I would use it at night before I went to bed as another layer of hydration, and during the day when I was going makeup free and was feeling a little dry.

I do like this product, but I have a few other products with Hyaluronic Acid in them. My skin type is oily and sometimes combination, but I don’t have dry skin. The only time I get dry skin is when it’s really cold outside or when I’ve stripped my moisture barrier away. I also don’t tend to spray my face with anything unless it’s makeup setting spray. So while I do like this product, I don’t think I’ll be rebuying it anytime soon.

Tula - The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser

Full disclosure, I got this cleanser as a gratis (free) product at Ulta. As an employee, we get free products from time to time, and I chose this as one of my freebies. After using it up, I have to say that I’m so glad I got it for free. First off, the cleanser is so so. It didn’t blow my mind with how clean it made my face. It got the job done and that was that. Secondly, the smell was terrible. I am not a fan of the smell of this cleanser at all. Now, I have only used one other Tula product in the past, but it smelled amazing so I was a bit shocked that this product could smell so bad. I didn’t enjoy using it at all, but I wanted to use it up so I could save my better cleansers. Normally I say, “if it’s free it’s for me”, but not if it’s the Tula cleanser!

Anastasia Beverly Hills - Brow Freeze

This is hands down my favorite brow product for that fluffy laminated brow look! I always thought I had sparse thin brows, but after learning how to use this product, I’ve realized that I actually have a decent set of brows. My brows just like to lay down and on top of each other so they look pretty sparse. It took me a little bit to figure out how to style my brows the way I want them to look though. If you use too much wax, your brows can become stiff and a bit harder to comb through. If you don’t use enough wax, your brows won’t stay up to get that laminated look. In a way you become like Goldilocks, searching for the perfect amount of brow wax to use to get beautiful brows.

I’ve gone through a few of these Brow Freeze’s before, and it will continue to be a staple in my makeup bag. There is a lot of product in the jar and it lasts for months. I started using a new one in January and I’m going to be tracking how long it lasts. I’ll keep you posted when I use up the next one. I will be trying the new e.l.f Brow Lift when it’s in stock because word on the street is that it is a dupe for the ABH Brow Freeze. If it is indeed a dupe, I might start buying it over the Brow Freeze to save me some coin.

Ulta Beauty - Waterproof Eye and Lip Makeup Remover

This eye makeup remover is great! I really enjoy using it, and I’ve gone through a few bottles of it already. However, I think it is being discontinued because Ulta is coming out with a newer version. I haven’t been able to find any more at Ulta, and I pulled the last SKU off the shelf to be deleted out of the inventory a few weeks ago. I’m hoping the new version comes out soon or else I will need to find a different eye makeup remover. For now, I will be using the last few bottles that I have on hand.

Makeup Revolution - Conceal and Define Full Coverage Concealer

This wallet friendly concealer is the best! It’s hands down my favorite drugstore concealer. I like it over the e.l.f Camo Concealer and it’s just as good as the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. It’s full coverage, has minimal creasing, and is super lightweight! Once it’s blended in, you can barely see that it’s there and it wears really well. It’s perfect for long days at work or on the go. I will definitely keep buying this concealer and keep it as a forever staple in my makeup bag.
